SunHeart organises relaxation retreats that offer you warmth, light and dedicated time for updating your own body into a more relaxed state.

Experience the Shindo® retreat in Ibiza, with sunshine, incredibly beautiful Mediterranean nature, good food and relaxed flow. The programme (9 hours) includes practical skills from active relaxation and earthing your body to bodyfulness, using the gentle yet effective Shindo method. It helps you to identify tensions in your body and to relax them with the help of gentle stretching and relaxation exercises.

The SunHeart retreat centre is based in an idyllic and inviting 120-year- old country house called Can Bueno, in the village of Santa Eulària in Ibiza. The house is located 20 km from the airport and 16 km from the capital of the island, Ibiza Town. The hostess, a Finnish lady called Katja, is a wonderful person who has transformed the place into a charming oasis where you can relax and refresh your body and mind. She knows the place well and can provide you with the best insider tips for exploring the island and the opportunities it has to offer.


The island is full of things to see and experience, but just relaxing on the terrace, in the sheltered courtyard with its lush grass or by the pool is also a wonderful experience. The weather on the island tends to be sunny in the spring and autumn, allowing us to take all the exercises and activities outdoors. In connection with the house, there is a wooden deck in the shade of some trees that is perfect for Shindo. Mattresses and pillows are also provided. On one day, we will drive to a stunning rocky beach on the northern coast of the island to do stretching exercises there. Most of the food served at the house is made of organic ingredients, and it is a pleasure for all of your senses.

The nearest beach and the centre of the charmingly harmonious village are both a pleasant 15-minute walk from the house. It is also fantastic that the sea water is probably warm enough to enjoy a short dip in the sea, and the beaches are wonderfully quiet at that time of year. There are cafés and restaurants in the town that offer a variety of tapas, delicious seafood and artisan ice cream.

We start our day with refreshing green juice made from fresh, sun-ripened ingredients sourced locally. There is also tea and coffee available. For the next couple of hours, we do some easy stretching and relaxation exercises as well as short, deep relaxation treatments. For the rest of the day, you are free to explore the island with the variety of adventures, stunning natural beauty and different kinds of activities it has to offer. I will also organise two guided walking tours during the week. A rental car is a practical option, with prices being reasonable, particularly in March. Let me know beforehand if you may be interested in renting a car.

Ibiza Town is charming place with a number of inviting restaurants, cafés, shops, and a beautiful old town and a castle. Another larger town, San Antonio, is famous for its summer parties and is a wonderful place to watch the sunset. The coastline is dotted with breathtaking scenic viewpoints and bays, perfect for enjoying the beauty of the Mediterranean. Possible destinations for a group outing include a scenic viewpoint overlooking the rocky Es Vedrà island, said to be a part of the legendary Atlantis, or the nearby island of Formentera with its paradise-like beaches. Located a 30-minute boat trip away, it is an excellent destination for a day trip (at your own cost). In addition, the following activities are also available on the island at your own cost: scuba diving, bike or scooter hire, horse riding, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing, various therapies and treatments, a hippy market and walking tours, for example.

Depending on the room option and the time of your stay, the cost of the retreat is €1,025 to €1,225 per person. The price includes: accommodation in a room for 2 to 4 people, breakfast juice + coffee or tea and another meal (brunch/supper), 9 hours of instructed Shindo classes and two guided walking tours of about 4-5 hours (including transfers). Each participant should organise their own flights; there are good options via Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Alicante, Valencia or Majorca. You can also opt for a ferry from mainland Spain to Ibiza. The retreat best suits about 10 participants at a time. To reserve your place, please pay the reservation fee of €325 (incl. VAT at 10%); the remainder of the price of the accommodation is paid on location. Participants are responsible for their own insurance. You may want to consider coverage for your sunglasses and media devices, for example.

Shindo Relaxing retreat in Ibiza, 8-14 and 15-21 October

Shindo® can be translated as the “pathway to your heart”. The method is about discovering and releasing tensions with simple but effective bodywork.

Shindo contains relaxation exercise, active stretching, pressing techniques with the help of natural gravity, and breathing. It will bring you into your body and help you to be grounded and gentle with yourself. Being present in your body, or “bodyfullness”, leads to greater balance and well-being. The more relaxed you are, the more you are able to connect with your inner wisdom. And the more you release unnecessary stress, the more your body is able to serve you in the best way it naturally can. Your brains will also love it!

The roots of Shindo lie in Eastern medicine, where the mind and emotions connect with the body. The idea behind the method is to gently work through your body’s meridian system and release blocks caused by stress. Your heart will love it. Meridian lines cover areas of body that easily get stiff, so it is a good method for all people suffering from tension. It is especially recommended for people working in emotionally demanding jobs like social care, teaching and nursing, those in creative industries, and people who work in offices surrounded by digital technology.

In Shindo treatment, blocks are released by addressing tension through stretching, pressing, or both in combination. The next thing is to relax and breathe. Sometimes working in pairs provides another level of stretching, and some nice neutral but warm-hearted support such as rubbing one’s back while streching can be very useful and enjoyable. There are individual treatments and also self-practice elements in Shindo. On the retreat we concentrate on self-help techniques but we also look at a number of great treatment techniques. We basically go through the introductory course with special additions.

The recommended exercises alongside the treatments are easy and very practical. For example, it is fun as well as useful to discover your central line and its strength in different situations. Stretching is done in such a way so that everybody can find a suitable, body-specific posture that makes sense to them.  Shindo in its entirety is called a relaxation exercise because everything you do in Shindo allows you to find more ways to relax. The concept of relaxation in Shindo is active. You can take the ideas and skills wherever you go in your life.
